With a full-time job, you’re already spending at least 40 hours per week at work, but recent studies and surveys also indicate that American workers are spending more time than ever before on their daily commutes.
Although remote work is becoming more common (4.6 percent of the workforce worked from home in 2015), the length of rush hour commutes is one the rise.
According to the Census’s 2015 American Community Survey data, the average American commute increased about 24 seconds per drive. While that may not sound like much, those seconds quickly accumulate, resulting in approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes of additional travel time over the course of a year.
